Six week-long Induction Training Programme for IAS Officers at Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA) concluded here today with the valediction ceremony held today at Punjab Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh which was presided over by Governor Punjab and Administrative UT Chandigarh, . V.P.Singh Badnore. As many as 55 IAS Officers from 12 States of the country attended this combined Induction Programme, first time in the history of MGSIPA.
Addressing the valedictory function of State Services officers promoted to IAS, the Punjab Governor Mr. V.P.Singh Badnore called upon the IAS Officers to work with commitment and dedication to ensure effective, transparent and people central good governance to fulfil the aspirations of common people. He said that inclusive development and efficient service delivery systemis the need of the hour and the civil servants has a great responsibility to achieve this goal of socio-economic development.
Emphasizing the need of adopting a positive approach as integral part of planning and implement process, the Governor said the officers must view every programme as a “Social Mission” during their carrier and implementation them with commitment and dedication at all levels of administration. He said that benefits of democratic governance must reach all sections of the society without any kind of impartiality and discrimination. He presented certificates to the participants.

Jaspreet Talwar, Secretary to Government of Punjab and Director, MGSIPA while presenting welcome address and Course Report of the programme said that this programme has been sponsored by the Department of Personnel, Government of India to MGSIPA for the first time. She said that during this training programme various academic sessions were held with the aim of exposing them with contemporary issues of importance to administrators across the country. The eminent experts were invited to interact with the participants and discuss issues of taking forward the process of inclusive socio-economic development, public policy governance, urban development, water supply & sanitation and public administration.
Karan Bir Singh Sidhu, Special Chief Secretary to Government of Punjab and Director General, MGSIPA while proposing vote of thanks said that the officers took keen interest in all the academic sessions which will be beneficial for them for effective implementation of social development programmes during their service carrier. He said that after Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy Mussorie, Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration Chandigarh is the only institute where such a magnificent training was conducted at the behest of APEX institute. He said that special focus has been given by the MGSIPA to equip the officers with various skills and knowledge to make them instruments of change. He expressed gratitude to Governor Punjab for blessing the trainee IAS Officers with his words of wisdom and valuable advice to work with commitment and dedication.
